The Dream becomes Reality
It was not possible to perfectly recreate the original snobs' horse for the land was in private ownership. A new site was selected, to the East of the original one and more suited to a mirror image of Peter Greed's 1954 sketch.
So it was, that during 1999, a new horse was dug. The picture, taken from the police helicopter/air ambulance shows work in progress. The use of power tools meant that chalk could be dug out from under the horse and then spread over the area.
Another working party of volunteers planted chalkland wild flowers around the horse.
